Joseph Alexander Altsheler (* 29. April 1862 in Three Springs, Kentucky; † 5. Juni 1919 in New York City, New York) war ein US-amerikanischer Autor.
Leben
Altsheler wurde in Three Springs, Kentucky geboren. 1885 begann er, bei der Zeitung The Courier-Journal mitzuwirken. Als hawaiianischer Korrespondent arbeitete er ab 1889 bei der New Yorker Zeitung New York World mit. Später schrieb er Kindergeschichten für die Zeitung.
Altsheler heiratete im Jahre 1888 Sarah Boles; sie bekamen gemeinsam einen Sohn. Während des Ersten Weltkrieges befanden er und seine Familie sich in Deutschland. Auf der Heimfahrt nach Amerika erkrankte Altsheler schwer und verstarb 1919 in New York City.
