Caput mortuum

Caput mortuum (lateinisch für „Totenkopf“), auch Colcothar bzw. Kolkothar oder Morellensalz, ist ein aus Pyrit durch Abrösten des Schwefels gewonnenes mineralisches Pigment aus Eisen(III)-oxid. Seine Farbe ist ein violettstichiges Rot.
