Die Echten Kaimane (Caiman) sind eine Gattung der Kaimane (Caimaninae) innerhalb der Krokodile (Crocodylia). Echte Kaimane kommen rezent ausschließlich in Südamerika vor, mit Ausnahme des Krokodilkaimans, dessen Verbreitungsgebiet bis in den Süden Mexikos reicht.
