Der Eritreisch-Äthiopische Krieg dauerte vom 6. Mai 1998 bis zum 18. Juni 2000 und endete mit der äthiopischen Besetzung der umstrittenen Gebiete. Der anschließende Waffenstillstand wurde im Abkommen von Algier vereinbart.
