Die Mangostane (Garcinia mangostana), auch Mangostan- oder Mangostinbaum genannt, wird wegen ihrer wohlschmeckenden, apfelgroßen Früchte oft angebaut. Einige Arten, Garcinia hanburyi und Garcinia morella, liefern ein als Gummigutta bekanntes Gummiharz und die Garcinia indica die Kokumbutter.
