Herbert Spencer

Herbert Spencer (* 27. April 1820 in Derby; † 8. Dezember 1903 in Brighton) war ein englischer Philosoph und Soziologe. Als Erster wandte er die Evolutionstheorie (hier: das Konzept des Survival of the Fittest) auf die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung an und begründete damit das Paradigma des Evolutionismus, das oft als Vorläufer des Sozialdarwinismus angesehen wird.
