John Thomas Scopes

John Thomas Scopes (* 3. August 1900 in Paducah, Kentucky; † 21. Oktober 1970 in Shreveport, Louisiana) war ursprünglich ein US-amerikanischer Lehrer. Bekannt wurde er 1925 durch den sogenannten Affenprozess, nachdem er sich in Tennessee über ein Verbot der Evolutionstheorie im Schulunterricht hinweggesetzt hatte.
