Karakorum (Stadt)

Karakorum (mongolisch ᠬᠠᠷᠠᠬᠣᠷᠣᠮ (Qara Qorum) bzw. Хархорин (Kharkhorin)), für „schwarze Berge“, „schwarzer Fels“, „schwarzes Geröll“, ist eine Ruinenstätte am Fuß des Changai-Gebirges in der Mongolei. Sie war zwischen 1235 und 1260 Hauptstadt des Mongolischen Reiches.
