Mariposa (früher auch Aqua Fria) ist eine unselbstständige Siedlung (Census-designated place) und Verwaltungssitz des Mariposa County in Kalifornien, Vereinigte Staaten. Das U.S. Census Bureau hat bei der Volkszählung 2020 eine Einwohnerzahl von 1.526 ermittelt. Der Name kommt aus dem Spanischen und bedeutet "Schmetterling", was daher rührt, dass erste Zuwanderer Monarchfalter haben überwintern sehen.
