Maulesel

Der Maulesel (lat. hinnus) ist das Kreuzungsprodukt eines Pferdehengstes (Vater) und einer Eselstute (Mutter). Das Wort Maul ist dabei dem lateinischen mulus für Maultier bzw. Mischtier/Mischung entliehen. Maulesel sind Hybride aus zwei Arten und nicht fortpflanzungsfähig.
