Polly

Polly ist im angelsächsischen Sprachraum ein weiblicher Kurzname. Er ist eine Kurzform von Pauline, bzw. Paula, eine Variante ist Molly. In seinem Verbreitungsgebiet ist Polly auch der stereotype Name für Papageien („Polly wants a cracker“ - „Polly möchte einen Keks“). Entsprechend heißt auch der Papagei in Monty Pythons Sketch „Der Papagei ist tot“ Polly Parrot.
