Satrap

Satrap (altpersisch xšaçapāvān, gelesen wie chschazapawan, „Schützer der Herrschaft“; altgriechisch σατράπης satrápes) war im antiken Perserreich der Titel des Statthalters eines Verwaltungsgebiets. Satrapen hatten eine politisch-administrative und militärische Leitungsfunktion, entsprechend einem heutigen Gouverneur.
