Als Schwellenland (auch: Zweite Welt; englisch Newly industrialized country, second world) werden speziell in der Entwicklungspolitik und Entwicklungstheorie jene Staaten bezeichnet, die sich im Prozess der Industrialisierung befinden und deshalb den Status als Entwicklungsland überwunden haben.
