Sinus hyperbolicus und Kosinus hyperbolicus

Sinus hyperbolicus und Kosinus hyperbolicus sind mathematische Hyperbelfunktionen, auch Hyperbelsinus bzw. Hyperbelkosinus genannt; sie tragen die Symbole ${\displaystyle \sinh }$ bzw. ${\displaystyle \cosh }$, in älteren Quellen auch ${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {Sin}}}$ und ${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {Cos}}.}$ Die Kurve, die ein an zwei Punkten aufgehängtes Seil einheitlicher Längendichte beschreibt, ist ein Kosinus hyperbolicus. Sein Graph wird deshalb auch als Katenoide (Kettenlinie) bezeichnet.
