Eine Stadt (französisch ville) ist nach französischem Recht, anders als im deutschsprachigen Sinne, keine Verwaltungseinheit, sondern eine Statistikeinheit.

Unterschieden werden zwei Formen: Ville isolée und Ville-centre.
