Ein Tonband (Magnettonband, Magnetband) ist ein mit analogen Daten bespielbarer Tonträger, der meist aus einem Kunststoffband besteht, das mit magnetisierbaren Stoffen (z. B. Eisen(III)-oxid-, Chromdioxid- oder Eisen-Pulver) beschichtet ist.
