not sure I'm in the right place, but I installed Kubuntu on my early 2008 MacBook (4,1) and on inserting CD in the built-in drive it is not drawn in. I am dual-booting and the drive works fine with MacOS Snow Leopard I also have installed. Many thanks for any help.

  • Does Ubuntu see the DVD drive? Can you update your question with the output of lspci? This will show a list of hardware accessible to the system. –  Feb 21 '21 at 14:57

  • In 4 parts in fact. Hope all there, got confusing trying to chop it up. I don't recognise a DVD drive there, though I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. I'd say it's not seen by Kubuntu, as if I put a CD in the slot, the CD just sits there, isn't draw in to the drive. The drive never makes a sound, unlike if I boot into MacOS, when it whirrs. – johnstitch Feb 21 '21 at 18:45
