I prepared an USB stick with Ubuntu 25.04 using Balena Etcher. Restarted my MacBook and chose to install from the USB. Chose option " Try or install Ubuntu" from the menu appearing on screen. Screen goes blank and nothing more happens. Mac still running but screen is blank. What have I missed? Regards Georg

  • How much RAM. My old PC would not boot new Ubuntu, but would boot server & Kubuntu. You may need a lighter weight flavor. https://ubuntu.com/download/flavours Are you booting installer in UEFI boot mode? Did you create installer in UEFI mode, or both, not old BIOS boot mode?     I saw that there are many issues regarding installation of 25.04, so I went for 24.04 instead. That install went smooth. – Georg Lukjanov Apr 24 '25 at 15:15
  • There seems to be a problem booting 25.04 on all macs (macbooks, imacs and minis). Using older kernels with this release works. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1546074/kernel-problem-cant-install-25-04-onto-macs – Guy Apr 27 '25 at 14:58
