Einleitung
This is a guide for replacing both of your 2008-2010 Audi A3 Sportback hatch lift supports/struts. Upon successfully following instructions, your hatch should be able to support itself while fully open. See the troubleshooting page for this device.
Make sure you have an assistant who can easily hold the door open and will not grow faint or tired to ensure both peoples safety.
If you have an electrical connection (meaning if you can open your hatch with a click of a button) to the hatch door, be sure to disconnect it before starting the replacement process.
You must replace both struts, even if only one has failed. Replacing only one strut will cause an imbalance on the hatch door while opening and closing and could wear-down the new strut more quickly.
Do not scratch the metal part of the strut, it can affect it’s functionality.
Have all of your tools and parts ready to go before you start the replacement process!
The hatch lift support parts can be purchased here.
