The battery in the JBL Clip 2 is rechargeable. If the battery does not work, you will notice that the device does not stay on as long as it used to or wont turn on at all. If this is the case the battery will have to be replaced. The device will be taken apart and the battery will be removed and replaced.

    • Begin by removing the front cap of the JBL Clip 2 by using the blue plastic opening tool to get in between the creases.

    • If your JBL Clip 2 has never been opened this procedure will require moderate amount of force.

Careful not to break the grill pins as they are sticky glued into place.

    • There will be six 3 mm T8 screws under the cap, remove these six screws.

    • If you are not trying to replace the speaker please ignore the two middle 3 mm T8 screws during this procedure.

You might have to pick the hot glue out the screw heads.

    • To completely remove the top portion, disconnect the speaker from the motherboard using the blue plastic opening tool.

    • While disconnecting be sure to not use too much force as these two parts are meant to become disconnected.

When pulling out the connector, be careful of the small parts on the motherboard.

    • Slightly move the motherboard to the side to reveal sides of battery, carefully using the blue plastic opening tool to remove the battery from the speaker casing.

    • Be careful not to disconnect any soldered wires connected to the motherboard and speaker casing.

There should be sticky glue holding down wires and sealing up openings. Take care when you need to remove this glue.

    • Carefully looking at the motherboard there are three solder points labeled battery, that need to be desoldered.

    • If you need help with desoldering refer to How to Solder and Desolder Connections help. After these are removed the battery should be free.

Bonjour, savez-vous où l'on peut trouver une batterie identique pour la changer ?

How can this be a battery replacement if "no parts required", like it says?

Also, this fixit is really only half done without information as to the model of the battery needed for a replacement, or at least some specs like size, volts, mAh, etc. You've already done the hard work it would seem, so why not share it. Otherwise everyone doing this is forced to take it apart before trying to then figure out the battery they need to replace... then more waiting to order and ship and etc. etc.

This is foolish as you needed the internet to post. Type in “JBL clip 2 battery replacement” (copy the quotation if your laziness knows no bounds) to the search bar, no “specs necessary” and when it arrives you will have no problem following his perfect directions. Don't try to be an articulate troll.

My replacement battery only has 2 wires the clip has 3 ?

Are you sure your watching the right instructions for the model you own? If 2 wires, and the right battery was bought, then it also should have 2 wires. IF 3 wires on the battery, perhaps the wrong model battery was ordered for your device. Watching a teardown video just now, this “ JBL Clip 2” has 3 wires. It is always a possibility that JBL used a version 1 and version 2 battery / motherboard in the JBL Clip 2’s.. you would be the one to determine that.

Motherboard anchored into shell with thick black adhesive/epoxy that would destroy components when accessing battery for replacement. Guide TOTALLY fails to note this. This FixIt is incomplete/inaccurate.
