The battery in the JBL Clip Plus is rechargeable. If the battery does not work, you will notice that the device does not stay on as long as it used to or wont turn on at all. If this is the case the battery will have to be replaced. The device will be taken apart and the battery will be removed and replaced.

    • Use the angled tweezers to carefully pull the rubber bumper off the back side of the device

  2. PPoGaymuFHyKSVf6
    • There will be three 6mm philips head screws under that rubber bumper, remove these three screws.

  3. 3TOZBMNWC2ujhkxA
    • The back cover should lift open easily and the components should be visible.

    • Use the plastic prying tool to gently remove the face of the speaker from the body.

  7. AVu6YPOKbNvIWgad
    • Use the spudger tool to gently scrape away the adhesive holding in the microphone.

    • When working with electronics, it's important to choose a tool that's ESD-safe to avoid accidental damage to the device. The regular black nylon spudger or a plastic opening tool should be used whenever possible.

  8. FuBScnpwdhucnRYf
    • Gently push the motherboard away from the microphone, this will allow you to remove the microphone.

  9. xGtbjjkbw3RmZpVr
    • Gently push the motherboard out from the frame of the JBL Clip Plus, this requires some force.

  10. 4lhnQCnDue1gCpJ5
    • There are three solder points that need to be desoldered.

    • If you need help with desoldering refer to How to Solder and Desolder Connections help. After these are removed the battery should be free.

Its easy to cut wires then connect new battery using solderless connectors.

Could you post the dimensions of the battery (L xW x H) so i can replace it with generic ones from China. cheers

Nice job. Wasn't able to use the same battery though. I just used something that I could find in a local electronic shop near home and made renovations to the battery housing for it to fit. Thanks you!

Is it possible if replaced with a battery from cellphones with higher AmH rating?

Patrick Ignacio -

Unfortunately, it would be hard to find a cell battery this small. The original battery is 2" x 1 1/8" x 1/8". My samsung S3 battery is 2 1/2" x 2" x 3/16", so is far from fitting. If you were ok with shaving the molded battery holder down, you could probably fit one that's 2" x 1 1/2" x 1/4" or so (the thickness tolerance is hard to tell), but it would be a lot of work. I think I might just buy a speaker that has good battery reputation (i.e., NOT JBL).

man need to replace the speaker were can i buy just that?

ruitherock -

I think Id rather just buy a different speaker.

"No parts required."

Seriously? How about a new battery!

Also, mentioning the battery model or a link to a replacement battery would have been very useful.

The battery model number is P453048D 01.

Mario Hernandez -

where can I find this batterie

Michael Mair -

2" x 1 1/8" x 1/8 = 58mmx29mmx3.2mm

on eBay search for li-ion 3.7v 600mah battery cell (optionally add gps if too many obviously wrong batteries).

Then click on entries until you find something the right size (or smaller). The thickness can probably be 4mm +/-0.5mm with no problem. I wouldn't exceed the other dimensions.

You can probably find a 800mah battery within these dimensions if you want to extend the running time.

Costs range a lot. Ordering from China expect to pay 3.70 to 7.00 pounds, including postage. This takes 2-6 weeks, usually 2-3.

Where I can buy the housing for my speaker JBL Clip 1

M732002m2073@hotmail.com -

I’ve just used this guide to remove the battery from my JBL Clip I and the specs on the label are:

Model: P453048D 01

Nominal voltage: 3.7v

Nomina capacity: 600mAh

2.22Wh Lithium Polymer

I haven’t been able to find another 600mAh version and I suspect that was only used in the first model and the Clip II appears to have an 800mAh version of the same battery, which I’ve just ordered online from AliExpress for just over €14. (See all their search results for this battery here) I’m assuming it should work fine and each charge should last longer too due to the extra 200mAh.

Orders usually take a few weeks to arrive to Europe with AliExpress, but when it gets here I’ll see if I can solder it in, seal the speaker back up and will post the results on here…

So did the clip 2 battery work?

Can I just cut the old battery wires and wire up the new battery in its place? Or that not good

k.h.king -

Just cut the wires in the middle and join it to that from a new battery. It'll work ok.
