The Microsoft Surface Headphones motherboard is the central piece that ties all the other components together. If it becomes damaged, the entire system can't operate properly. Rather than throwing the whole thing away, repairing the motherboard can restore full functionality through a few minutes of repair.

Caution: desoldering and soldering presents potential for device damage.

Schritt 1

Firmly grasp the ear cushions and rotate them counterclockwise, about 45 degrees, until you hear a "click."
To replace the motherboard, you only need to remove the right cushion, labeled with an "R" on the headband.

Schritt 2

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three 2.6 mm screws securing the right speaker housing to the chassis.

Schritt 3

Lift the speaker housing away from the chassis, taking care not to damage the motherboard connections.
Desolder the two speaker motherboard connections.

Desolder the red and black speaker connections.
