Replace the aux port on your device

    • To remove the front grate of the speaker grab a metal spudger and go to the back corner of the device where the front panel curves around the device. Insert the spudger and ply apart the corner until clips release from panel. Repeat for the other side of the grate. When all clips are released pull grate off from the front of device

    • When working with electronics, it's important to choose a tool that's ESD-safe to avoid accidental damage to the device. The metal spudger is great when you need serious prying power, but the regular black nylon spudger or a plastic opening tool should be used whenever possible.

I found removing the faceplate (grill) unnecessary for this repair.

Hello I called the factory and they refused to even let me know which parts to buy since I successfully disassembled the unit and need to replace the 2x Micro DC connector in the pc board or where can I find a complete little board part to replace? Any support much appreciated

    • Grab two metal spudgers and insert one into the slit underneath the silver plating on the top of the device. Pry upward with the spudger until you unhook the two locks on the top. Repeat same step for the bottom of the device. When all four tabs are released, slide device out of the casing

    • Use caution when working with the metal spudger, as it can potentially damage your device.

This step is the primary step in reaching the components. It’s necessary to deform the metal housing at the four key points an 1/8” to release the four catches (two on top and two on the bottom). Once your spudgers, or shims (I used tweezers handles as shims), are in place pushing in the center of the back (on the plastic speaker grill) while holding the metal case lip I was able to slow push the internals out.

There is a key piece not shown in this step. Be sure to view how to remove the battery from TaoTronics TT-BA07 (formally listed as TaoTronics TT-SK06)( TaoTronics TT-BA07 Battery Replacement ). Once the battery cover is removed you can slide the internals out. Be very careful not to sever the antenna wire while removing the case.

    • Remove the circuit board containing the aux port using the tweezers.

    • Remove the aux port from the board by un-soldering the connection points.

    • To reattach, solder aux port back onto board. For soldering help, check out iFixit's How to Solder and Desolder Connections guide.

I wanted to completely disassemble the speaker to see if I could modify its power source (from battery to USB). but found it glued shut. There are screws that would seem to open up the internals, but removing the screws did nothing. In the end I put it back together, and decided to not replace any of the screws. The glue and metal case are sufficient. No screws necessary.

I would prefer it to not power down while using USB power, but destroying the speaker to convert it to USB power is not the answer.
