Background and Identification

The Volkswagen (VW) Touareg is a mid-size five-door luxury SUV produced by Volkswagen, a German automobile manufacturer, since 2002. The vehicle was named for the nomadic Tuareg people, inhabitants of the Saharan region in North Africa.

The second-generation VW Touareg was released in 2010. It was marketed as featuring the world’s first “glare-free high beam” headlights, which adjusts the range of the high-beam headlights and its pattern. This generation’s Touareg features adaptive cruise control with a Stop and Go function, a lane departure warning system, a blind-spot monitor, a frontal collision avoidance system, and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

A VW Touareg Hybrid model was also released in 2010, along with the Touareg Exclusive model. The Exclusive model includes two-tone leather seats, heated front seats, leather door inserts, and other upgrades. A limited-version Touareg X model was produced between 2013 and 2014 as a version of the 2014 Touareg TDI Clean Diesel Lux model. The X model features an all-wheel-drive system for the U.S. market, aluminum-alloy wheels, LED tail lights, a rearview camera, Bluetooth technology, and other upgrades.

VW Touareg vehicles include the VW emblem, which depicts a ‘V’ placed on top of a ‘W’, enclosed by a circle. Touareg models also include the Touareg emblem, which depicts the model name “Touareg” in capital letters on the rear end of the vehicles.
