Background
The Dell XPS series was first introduced in 1993 when Dell decided to create a new high-end product line to compete with Gateway and the emerging market for personal computers. The Dell XPS outclassed many computers in the market at the time and for an attractive cost, and has incremental upgrades since its release to remain a high performance option.
The Dell XPS 15 debuted in 2013 intended to compete with the Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch model. With a QHD+ IGZO panel that offered low response times and good coverage of the sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces, the 9510 aimed to be a mobile workstation for graphics professionals.
This modern Dell XPS 15 9510 laptop features a dedicated GPU and an 11th generation 8-core processor and retails for 1500-2000$. One big selling point for this laptop is its 3456x2160 OLED Touchscreen display. This laptop is highly customizable from the manufacturer so the price tag and features may vary. It fits into the Dell XPS family as the midsize option between the 13 inch XPS 13 and the 17 inch.
Some users have concerns about the slim chassis of the XPS 9510 relative to the amount of heat that is created, and failures related to excessive buildup of heat seem to be among the most common complaints.
Identification
The current iteration of the XPS laptop is distinguished by its brushed metal case and the letters "XPS" emblazoned largely on its bottom side. The specific identifying information is printed below the vent. The model number is also viewable by pressing F2 as the laptop is booting up, or in Windows System Information (in the run line, type msinfo32).
