The Essential phone is the first product by Essential, a company founded by Andy Rubin. The phone features a near bezel-less screen, premium components and materials, and a magnetic connector to expand the phone's functionality through Essential's line of accessories. Also notable is a complete lack of branding on the phone, as Essential wants the phone to be representative of the user, not of the Essential brand.

The Essential Phone was discontinued on December 28, 2018. Essential has yet to announce a new version of the phone.
