Background and Identification
The Kindle Paperwhite is the 2nd Generation of the device, released in late 2013. The backside of the device contains a label that lists the model number as DP75SDI. If the Kindle has the ability to power on , you can verify that you have a 2nd Generation Kindle Paperwhite by clicking on Settings and then Device Info. Once this is done, a 16 digit code will be displayed, if this code begins with “B0D4” or “90D4” your device is a 2nd Generation Kindle Paperwhite. The Kindle Paperwhite differs from other Kindles by not having the 5 way controller present in other Kindle Models, and by having a built in light that can be adjusted manually.
The First Generation Kindle Paperwhite model was introduced in October 1, 2012 by amazon with the release being centered around the addition of a manually adjusted light level. This model was well received, so a year later (September 30, 2013) the Second Generation Kindle Paperwhite was released. The Second Generation Kindle PaperWhite was released with a 6’’ Screen, a 1GHz Processor, 4GB of Storage and the ability to connect to wifi. This model was also well received.
