Kobo Mini Repair

The Kobo Mini is a small, touch-based e-book reader produced by Rakuten Kobo Inc., or Kobo, a Canadian company that sells e-books, audiobooks, e-readers, and tablet computers. The Kobo Mini was released in September 2012 and marketed towards people who wanted a pocket-sized e-reader.

The Kobo Mini features a 5.0-inch E Ink screen for legibility in direct sunlight. The device also includes 2 GB of internal storage, though some units were shipped with 4 GB cards internally which can be modified by the user, voiding its warranty, to access the unpartitioned space. Kobo Mini e-readers are distinguished by removable back covers called SnapBacks that were available in three colors at launch (teal, red, and purple) with Kobo’s distinctive quilt pattern.

The Kobo Mini was designed to compete with the basic Kindle and Nook Simple Touch with a similar price, identical screen resolution, and the same amount of internal storage. The Kobo Mini features smaller dimensions and lighter weight than its competitors. The Kobo Mini can be charged with the micro-USB connecting port.

The Kobo Mini runs on the Kobo Firmware, which is based on the Linux kernel. The e-reader’s main screen shows tiles that automatically update based on the user’s actions. Tiles can appear for books, newspapers, magazines, store categories, or games the user has recently read, browsed, or played.
