Background and Identification
The heating element draws approximately 850W when active. There are no controls, it just runs while plugged in. The bottom plate heats up and the stirrer arm stirs the kernels. There is a spot on top of the cover for butter, which gets melted from the heat, and coats the popcorn by way of small horizontal openings. The stirrer automatically reverses if it gets caught.
Presto makes a number of similar poppers, such as model # 0520001, 0520101, 0520301, 0520302, and 0520402, many of which are “Orville Redenbacher's” branded.
The popper contains a thermostat (Part# T1/33 210 ) to regulate temperature but its setpoint has not been measured. Empirically, other users have tested the thermostat to cutoff power at 325 degrees F when attempting to use it as a coffee roaster.
