Background and Identification
Produced by Samsung Electronics, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 refers to the fourth generation of Tab series available in three sizes (7.0, 8.0, 10.1). It was released in 2014 as a successor to the Galaxy Tab 3. All three versions share a similar design language to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the other Samsung devices released at the time, and all feature the same 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab 4 is aimed to be a budget product, whereas the Samsung Galaxy Note series is designed for the high-end market.
The Galaxy Tab 4 was released with the Android 4.2.2. KitKat and a customized interface with Samsung’s TouchWiz software. Along with the standard Google Apps suite, the Tab 4 comes with Samsung apps such as S Suggest, S Voice, S Planner, WatchON, Smart Stay, Multi-Window, Group Play, and All Share Play. Storage is available in 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB depending on the device model, but can be expanded up to 128 GB with a microSDXC card.
For its budget friendly price, the Galaxy Tab 4 performs well for web browsing and casual gaming, and has a relatively good screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. However, there are several tablets with superior capabilities at a similar price-point, like the LG G Pad 7.
