Introduction

This is a tutorial on how to get rid of rust that lies on the car frame. Getting the rust off the car will prevent it from further damage and rusting.

    • Spray down the rust with a spray bottle mixed with water and dish soap.

    • Wipe the mixture with a microfiber cloth.

    • Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a microfiber cloth.

    • Clean the rusted area with the cloth to remove any contaminants.

    • Rub the rusted area with 80-grit sandpaper until you start seeing the bare metal.

    • Rub the rusted area with 220-grit sandpaper until all of the rust is removed.

    • Dampen a cloth with soapy water and wipe down the sanded area.

    • This step is to prepare your spot for spray painting.

    • Add some paper around the areas you do not want paint on. Make sure you go a little past where you are going to spray paint to blend the paint into the surrounding area.

    • Spray three even coats of primer, waiting at least five minutes between each coat.

    • Let the third coat sit for 15 minutes.

    • Spray three even coats of paint on top of the primer, waiting five minutes between each coat.

    • You can either use a color similar to your car or you can get the actual color of you car by looking for the car's color code.

    • After the final coat, wait 24 hours before removing the surrounding paper.
