Ascension
Ascension (offiziell englisch Ascension Island) ist eine 88 km² große tropische Insel mit ca. 773 Einwohnern (Stand 2023) im Südatlantik zwischen Afrika und Südamerika. Die Insel bildet mit St. Helena und der Inselgruppe Tristan da Cunha das Britische Überseegebiet St. Helena, Ascension und Tristan da Cunha. Ihre Hauptstadt ist das etwa 500 Einwohner zählende Georgetown.
