Ascobans
Das Abkommen zur Erhaltung der Kleinwale in der Nord- und Ostsee, des Nordostatlantiks und der Irischen See, abgekürzt ASCOBANS (englisch: Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas), ist ein regionales Artenschutzabkommen. Es wurde im September 1991 im Rahmen der Bonner Konvention zunächst unter dem Namen „Abkommen zur Erhaltung der Kleinwale in Nord- und Ostsee“ abgeschlossen und trat im März 1994 in Kraft. Im Februar 2008 wurde das Abkommensgebiet erweitert und der Name entsprechend geändert. ASCOBANS deckt alle in dem Gebiet vorkommenden Zahnwalarten (Odontoceti) ab, mit Ausnahme des Pottwals (Physeter macrocephalus).
