Das Institut für Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ist in Deutschland das einzige Institut auf Universitätsebene, das Forschung und Lehre auf den Gebieten Informationswissenschaft, Bibliothekswissenschaft und Bibliothekswesen vereinigt und über Promotionsrecht verfügt. Das Institut ist Mitglied der iSchools-Organisation.
