Die Provinz besteht aus den Departements Barga, Kaïn, Kalsaka, Kossouka, Koumbri, Namissiguima, Ouahigouya, Oula, Rambo, Séguénéga, Tangaye, Thiou und Zogoré. Hauptstadt ist Ouahigouya, die Provinz ist benannt in Anlehnung an das historische Reich Yatenga.
