Popof Island ist eine 91,8 km² große bewohnte Insel vor der Küste von Alaska. Kapitän Tebenkow von der Kaiserlich Russischen Marine gab der Insel den Namen „Popovskoi“ (Landkarte aus dem Jahr 1852). 1890 erschien die Insel auf einer Karte des U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF), die damalige US-Fischereibehörde, als „Popof Island“.
