Background and Identification

The Lenovo ThinkPad x120e is a laptop designed by Lenovo and released in 2011. Considered as one of the cheapest ThinkPads,  it is considered by reviewers to be an upgrade to an earlier product, ThinkPad x100e, by including a new Fusion processor.

On first glance, nothing much appears to be different from the ThinkPad x100e. This laptop features a 11.6 inch display with a standard black keyboard and a touchpad below it. The most significant part is the bright red Trackpoint between the G,H, and B keys.

What the ThinkPad x100e lacked in battery life, wireless strength, and ability to maintain temperature, made up for in the x120e. The model is equipped with a 6-cell battery and can last for “an impressive 591 minutes” [4]. On top of that, the device also includes decent audio quality, with a pair of stereo speakers on the bottom of the laptop.

A few ways to differentiate the TrackPad x120e from the TrackPad x100e is that the x120e has three screws on the bottom while the x100e has five screws. The ports are also useful to tell. For example, the Kennington port is on the left for the x120e, instead of the right like for x100e. Also, only the x120e includes a HDMI-out port on the left side. Finally, “x120e” is shown on the bottom-right, below the display.
