Background and Identification
The Polaroid PMID701i 10, released in early 2012, is an Android touch-screen tablet. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on a 7 inch capacitive touch screen.
When oriented upright, the Polaroid logo is found printed on the top right of the frame. On the right side, it includes standard buttons for Power/Standby, Home, Menu, and Return. However, it lacks volume buttons. The left side contains the microphone (labeled MIC), and on the back, it includes the reset button, a speaker, and a label. The label includes the Polaroid logo, followed by 4GB, a few symbols, and "Model number: PMID701i 10", identifying the device.
On the top side, it includes a slot for external storage, supporting Micro SDHC cards (up to 32 GB), a headphone jack (3.5mm), and connects and charges with a Mini USB port (USB Mini-b 5-pin). As a MID (mobile internet device), it connects to the internet through Wi-Fi. It supports Micro SDHC cards for external storage, up to 32GB. As an older tablet model, it lacks a camera, and uses OpenGL S 2.0 on a 800 x 480 (16:9) pixel resolution. It usually ships with a USB cable and an AC adapter.
Additional internal specifications of the device include:
- 1GHz CPU (ARM CORTEX-A8)
- 4GB flash internal storage
- 512 MB memory (DDR3 RAM)
- Around 6 hours of battery life
- Integrated Wi-Fi (WEP, WPA, WPA2) (802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n)
The PMID701i 10 includes a TV-out port next to the Mini USB port. There are two other PMID701i models, identified by the label on the back: PMID701i 13, and PMID701i X10. The earlier model, the PMID701C, looks the same, but runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
