Dan ist im Alten Testament der fünftälteste Sohn des Stammvaters Jakob und Bilhas, der Dienerin Rahels. Seine Nachkommen werden als Stamm Dan bezeichnet. Die Stadt, in der dieser Stamm wohnte, hieß ebenfalls Dan.
