The Nest X Yale is a locking door device and home defense system controlled by an app that was released in March 2018 (smarthomexperience.com). The price is $279.00 USD (On Tech Smart Services-1). There were no recalls known about this device at this time. The Nest X Yale lock made "The Best Smart Locks of 2022" on Tom’s Guide. Some parts of the device that can malfunction or fail are the camera, touch screen, battery, Wi-Fi, audio, and the lock. It fits with the rest of the family of locks because its works just like any other device in the family. The old model that was replaced is called Yale assure lock, it was replaced because the Nest X Yale lock was easier to use and had an updated design. The device that replaced Nest X Yale was August Smart Lock Pro because it fits on the deadbolt on the door and has texture to add grip.

The Nest x Yale lock is a small lock that has three different parts. The first is the keypad that is outside. Then the inside of the lock faces inwards. Both the lock and keypad should have an icon on the top that says “Yale”. As well as the connectivity device which is the Nest Connect or Nest Guard which has text that is hard to see but should say “Yale”.
