Background and Identification
The Sony Walkman WM-AF48 is a portable radio and cassette player that was first released in 1980. The original Walkman sold for $150 and was among the first portable music players made available to the public. Sales were low at first, but before long, the Walkman series of devices became some of Sony's most popular products. Today, over 400 million Walkman devices have been sold. Although this particular model is no longer marketed, the Walkman series has been changed and upgraded greatly over the years, and is still popular among music enthusiasts.
This particular model is easily identified. The device is black with "SONY WALKMAN" written on the cassette door in silver letters.
