Background Information
On July 28, 2010, Kindle 3, also known as Kindle Keyboard, was released by Amazon. Kindle 3 comes with 4 GB of internal memory, but does not allow expandable memory by using a removable flash card. Kindle 3 comes in a 6 inch monochrome eInk display with a resolution of 800 x 600. Kindle 3's display comes with 4-bit monochrome with 16 levels of gray. The dimensions for the device are 7.5 in x 4.8 in x 0.335 in. The weight is 8.7 ounces. The colors the device comes in are black graphite. The battery life allows for 7,500 of page turns before the device's battery needs to be charged.
Unlike the Kindle 2, Kindle 3 is able to read PDF, as well as, AZW, PDF, TXT, MOBI, PRC, HTML, DOC. It also supports the following image formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP. Also, the Kindle 3 is slimmer and narrower than the Kindle 2 by 0.5 inches. In addition to the upgraded perks, Kindle 3 is $50USD less than the Kindle 2. Kindle 3 is also 17% lighter than the Kindle 2, increasing its portability.
