Upgrades
You can cost effectively upgrade a number of components in the Dell Inspiron E1705.
- Memory: The Dell Inspiron E1705 comes with 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM. If you notebook is still running with the stock memory, you can upgrade to the maximum RAM of 2 GB by installing two 1 GB chips.
- Hard Drive: A 100 GB SATA hard drive comes standard on the Inspiron E1705. If more storage is needed, you can upgrade your hard drive by replacing it with a new one of up to 250 GB.
- Battery: A standard size 6-cell battery comes with the Inspiron E1705, but a size 9-cell is available upon purchase. If you did not upgrade upon purchase and would like a longer lasting battery, simply slide the latch on the battery compartment to release the battery, and replace it with a new size 9-cell battery.
Identification and Background
The Dell Inspiron E1705 was one of the first laptop computers to integrate the Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors. The E1705 was released in 2006, and at the time, it had the best graphics card Dell could offer, the Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950. It was meant to be used as a portable media center rather than a gaming laptop. The E1705 comes with a standard optical combo drive: 24x/10x/24x CD-RW and 8x DVD-ROM.
