Background and Identification

Samsung spans numerous sectors of the consumer market, manufacturing electronics and home appliances, selling everything from a smartphone to a vacuum cleaner. Samsung originated as a company in 1938 when it was founded by Lee Byung-chul in South Korea. The company’s origins are vastly different from its activities today. Samsung started out as a small company with just forty employees that sold groceries, dried fish, and noodles. Around 1954, Samsung began expanding, dabbling in areas like insurance and retail. It wasn’t until the late 1960s that Samsung got involved in the electronics industry.

Among the many household appliances that Samsung manufactures are refrigerators, perhaps paying homage to the company’s food-driven origins. Samsung produces a range of refrigerator options, including 4-Door French Door, 4-Door Flex, 3-Door French Door, Side-by-Side, and Top Freezer models. Samsung also offers smart refrigerators, which integrate refrigerators into the Internet of Things. These smart refrigerators offer users what Samsung calls a Family Hub. The Family Hub is essentially a large touchscreen display on the door of the refrigerator. This added feature allows users to do a variety of things right from their fridge, including planning meals, shopping for groceries, playing music, managing schedules, and receiving notifications from other smart home appliances.

Samsung refrigerators are rectangular, box-like appliances designed for the kitchen. They have doors that open to the inner contents of the fridge. Samsung refrigerators have the Samsung logo on the front of the fridge, usually in the upper right corner. Samsung fridges come in a range of colors, including stainless steel, black stainless steel, white, etc.
