Background Information

This is the Alienware 14 inch gaming laptop released in 2012. The differences between this model and its predecessor the M14x are: different keyboard layout, better processor, better graphics card, and more memory. The keyboard type on the M14xR2 is chiclet, which means the keys are raised squares with rounded edges, and the M14x's is standard. The processor on the M14xR2 is Intel i7 3rd generation and the M14x's is Intel i7 2nd generation. The graphics card in the M14xR2 is Nvidia Geforce GT 650M and the M14x's graphics card is Nvidia Geforce GT 555M. The memory in the M14xR2 is 6 GB and the M14x's is 4 GB. The webcam on the M14xR2 is 1.3 megapixels and the webcam on the M14x is 2.0 megapixels.

The Alienware M14XR2 is the new and improved version of Alienware's M14X which features 8 gigabytes of Ram, 1600 by 900 resolution, Intel I7 processor, and a built in web camera. In addition the laptop features a VGA, HDMI, and mini-DisplayPort all on one side. Also on that side is a trio of audio jacks (headphone, mic, headset), a flash-card reader slot, and a single USB 2.0 port. On the opposite side are the USB 3.0 ports, the ethernet port, a Kensington-style cable-lock slot, and the opening for the slot-loading optical drive. The Alienware M14xR2 also features a backlit keyboard that is entirely customizable by the user.
